June 2009, MUTEC from Germany, manufacturer of professional digital audio and video equipment, now ships the new MC-4, a digital multichannel audio format and sampling rate converter.
The MUTEC MC-4 converts ADAT™, AES3 and S/P-DIF digital multichannel audio signals, whereas uni- and bidirectional conversion modes are available. Unique to the MC-4 is its capability to lock two 8-channel digital audio sources with different clock rates and to convert the audio formats and clock rates bidirectionally in realtime. Therefore, unlike any product in its category, the unit includes a 16 channel sampling rate conversion engine (SRC) as a standrad. Two audiophil-optimized PLL synthesizers secure best sound quality in all operations modes. The SRC section can be locked to Word Clock, AES11 and any digital audio input in both, uni- and bidirectional operation modes.
As further special feature, the MC-4 offers an internal, Ultra low-jitter clock base to which the SRCs can be locked to, if no external reference is available. Thus, in smaller studio set-ups the MC-4 can be also used as high-stable, low-jitter master clock for any other digital audio device.

PSP Audioware is happy to announce their latest release: PSP oldTimer – a vintage-style compressor designed for track and program compression and limiting.
The goal in developing this plug-in is to provide a simple compressor that offers an exceptionally musical sound while requiring a minimum of tweaking. This plug-in is not based on any specific hardware, rather it is inspired by vintage circuits and is designed to emulate some favorite characteristics of such compressors. PSP oldTimer is so simple and is easy to use, it’s difficult to make it sound bad even at extreme settings! This compressor offers soft and smooth compression in most applications, however it may slightly color the sound with its tube emulation on transients when heavily driven internally by high compression values.

The MPK61 is a keyboard performance MIDI controller that expands the popular MPK line. Each MPK controller combines a piano-style keybed with a bank of genuine Akai Professional MPC pads, assignable Q-Link controllers and some of the technologies from the icon MPC. The RPM8 monitors will make their debut at Akai Professional’s booth, number 400, at the Summer NAMM Show held at the Nashville Convention Center, July 17 – 19.
RPM8 studio monitors are two-way, active, bi-amplified, nearfield loudspeakers intended for producers, recording engineers, remix artists, DJs and other musicians. The two-way monitors each feature an eight-inch woven-kevlar low-frequency driver with 80W RMS of continuous amplification for robust, full bass all the way down to 39 Hz. The monitors’ high-frequency system consists of a one-inch silk-dome tweeter with 40W RMS of continuous amplification, mounted on a custom, functionally optimized waveguide for excellent control of directivity and reduction of unwanted early reflections.
RPM8 studio monitors contain active, fourth-order crossovers for outstanding separation and optimal power management. Their cabinet is constructed of industry-standard MDF for low resonance, and is dually ported on the front baffle for bass extension in any setting including soffit-mounted installations. In addition to standard single-track and continuous playback, CDMIX systems offer programmable playback, enabling DJs to set up a sequence of tracks for convenient playback. They can also set cue points in real time for creative performance. All CDMIX systems also have Fader Start functionality, which can automatically start cued-up playback when the DJ moves the crossfader.
Each system’s three-channel mixer section is complete and on par with standalone mixers. Each has a mic channel, a dedicated channel for the iPod, as well as replaceable crossfader and pre-fader cueing controls. For the main channels, DJs can switch between the onboard CD players or rear-panel RCA inputs for additional CD players, additional iPods or turntables with preamps such as Numark’s TTX USB or TTi. DJs can cue with headphones using 1/4-inch and 1/8-inch stereo headphone outputs with level control. CDMIX systems have professional outputs for compatibility with virtually any system.

Rob Papen is one of the world´s leading sound designers. He started off with a number one hit in Benelux aged just 18 and has subsequently created patches for the Access Virus and EMU.
Now Rob has a whole range of software instruments which are used by some of the biggest names in contemporary music production, including Armin Van Buuren, Junkie XL and Teddy Riley to name but a few. And if you´re unsure about a particular synth function, simply right click your mouse to access the help screen.
By using the RG on board sequencer it is possible to create classic Rhythm Guitar grooves, but beyond that you can use the synthesizer features and effects to make fresh new edgy guitar grooves. To play the grooves RG is using a keyboard layout of major chords and minor chords, each with two sequence patterns (A or B) option. It is only a matter of hitting a single note in the major keyboard range or minor keyboard range and the groove plays.
Based on the award winning Predator engine, SubBoomBass has been carefully crafted to provide you with the tools to create fresh new bass lines for any musical style. SPL of Germany have updated the look of the channel strips Track One and Channel One. Both units are now available and join the Frontliner, SPL’s flagship channel strip, to form the new family of SPL designed products.
The new design features include a horizontally brushed aluminium front panel with the controls seated into new smooth milled rounded openings, the brushed aluminium also has the practical advantage of retaining its classic look for longer as it will repel marks such as finger prints. The control knobs are sculpted from massive aluminium giving them a quality look along with much improved haptics.
According to SPL, technically nothing has changed: “Over the years, thousands of users have created and experienced amazing results using the Channel One and Track One. So, we see no reason to change these SPL classics, especially as they have been so successfully tried and tested.” explained SPL’s CEO, Hermann Gier.

Naast DSP-powered compressie en EQ en een reverb komt de DSP versie ook nog met VRM. VRM staat voor Virtual Reference Monitoring. Met deze techniek ka je jouw mix beluisteren in verschillende omgevingen en door verschillende speakers. Dit alles met je eigen koptelefoon. Met VRM kan je kiezen uit simulaties van meer dan 100 monitor scenario’s. Ik vond de Saffire Pro 24 al de moeite waard. De DSP versie is alleen maar aantrekkelijker.

 Ethan Hein maakte kaart waarop goed te zien is welke tracks van Michael Jackson gebruikt zijn door andere artiesten. Vanzelfsprekend kan hij niet alle verbanden laten zien. Het is echter wel een mooi overzicht geworden. Het is ook wel goed om te zien dat hij het overzicht had gemaakt enkele maanden voor het overlijden van Michael Jackson.
